Skin Tightening Solutions For A Firm Chiseled Face
Want To Shape Up Your Face?
Jowls? Double chin? Hang dog expression? Loose skin around the face is unfortunately one of the hazards of the aging process – however the good news is that it isn’t inevitable and there is much you can do in the way of skin tightening to gain a face that is smooth, toned and younger looking.
Of course the obvious choice if you have a saggy, tired looking face is to pay a visit to the cosmetic surgeon to invest in one of the many skin tightening procedures, such as a face lift, brow lift or eye bag reduction. However for many people skin tightening treatments such as this are out of the question.
For one they cost too much and secondly do you really want to put yourself through potentially dangerous, medically unnecessary surgery?
Why Does Skin Sag?
Our skin ages at a constant rate, however by our mid to late forties the results of this become far more visible.
This occurs because the strength and flexibility of our skin’s collagen and elastin fibers decrease as we age.
When we are younger elastin fibers are able to naturally spring back in to place to maintain the tone of the skin however after 40 these fibers begin to lose elasticity, fray and become ‘lumped’ together.
When the elastin fibers have become damaged like this the skin has a tendency to sag. And this comes hand in hand with the formation of wrinkles after years of smiling, frowning and squinting.
On top of this as we age the layer of fat just below the surface of the skin becomes thinner and the underlying muscles start to whither or shrink. This can also add to skin appearing to be looser.
Put this together with the effects of gravity overtime and it’s no wonder that many of us are affected by sagging facial skin as the years progress.
How To Tighten Loose Skin?
For those who do not want to or cannot afford cosmetic surgery it’s good to know that there are several natural skin tightening options available.
Of course all the obvious ‘good skin’ rules still apply like eating healthily, avoiding excess alcohol, smoking and contact with the sun and also avoiding rapid weight gain and weight loss.
This is important because skin tightening after weight loss can be more difficult to counteract, as there is more excess skin to treat.
Many people who have lost a great deal of weight do have to resort to cosmetic skin tightening procedures or live with the saggy skin so the best thing you can do is to avoid gaining too much weight in the first place.
So to avoid sagging skin follow the rules on our checklist:
• Healthy diet – literally feed your face with nutrient rich foods to nourish the skin’s dermis and encourage the growth of healthy new fibers.
• Sun protection – Make sure you protect your skin from the sun by using a sun cream with an SPF of at least 15.
• A regular skin care regime – Nourish your skin on the outside with a morning and evening cleanse, tone and moisturize routine adapted to your individual skin type.
Add an exfoliator and a deep cleansing or deep moisturizing face mask 2 – 3 times per week.
• Manage your weight – Keep your weight within a certain limit, gaining or losing too much weight can cause the skin to sag noticeably.
• Exercise your face – Exercise your facial muscles to prevent skin sagging with regular facial exercises or facial massage.
As well as having a skin tightening effect facial exercise and facial massage increase the flow of blood to your skin – helping to create a healthy, glowing complexion.
Skin Tightening Home Remedies
If you can’t afford the latest miracle skin tightening cream or don’t want to spend your money on beauty products that are loaded with harsh ingredients there are several natural skin tightening home remedies you can make yourself.
1. Egg White Face Mask
Egg white has a temporary skin tightening effect as it draws impurities from the surface layer of the skin and tightens the pores as it cleanses. After application your skin will feel wonderfully clean, smooth and firm.
• All you need is 1 egg.
• Separate the egg white from the yolk.
• Manually beat the egg white for approximately 1 minute with a fork or spoon.
• Gently apply the mixture to your face and let it dry.
• Wash away with warm water.
2. Honeyed Egg Face Mask
This face mask has a tightening and softening effect and acts as a mild astringent so is suitable for oily skin. It will leave your skin feeling silky, smooth and revive a lackluster complexion.
Ingredients
1 egg
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp dried milk powder
1 tsp whole milk if required
• Blend the egg, honey and milk powder together to make a paste.
• Add a dash of whole milk if your paste is too thick to apply to the face.
• Gently apply the paste to your face and leave for 30 minutes to 1 hour if you have the time.
• Wash away with warm water.
3. Refreshing Lemon/Lime Face Mask
The lemon or lime used in this face mask has an astringent effect on your skin and acts as a toner, tightening the skin and closing the pores.
It also smells good! This skin tightening home remedy works well after you have cleansed and before you apply moisturizer.
Ingredients
1 lemon or lime – squeezed or juiced
½ tsp pure cool water
• Mix the lime or lemon juice along with the water in a bowl
• Gently pat on to your skin
• There’s no need to wash this face treatment off
Skin Tightening Facial Massage
Facial massage can be extremely beneficial when it comes to fighting the effects of gravity.
When performed correctly and gently by following the contours of the facial muscles, massage improves the flow of blood circulation responsible for carrying essential nutrients to the skin’s cells and helps to flush away toxins.
This improves not only your skin’s general tone but gives your complexion a healthy boost of the glow factor. Massaging facial skin helps to keep it supple, firm and resilient.
In addition to this massage also helps your skin to make the most of any of your homemade skin tightening beauty products as it encourages the skin to absorb any active ingredients included.
Skin Tightening Facial Exercises
Facial exercises are also an excellent way to give yourself an at home skin tightening treatment. Restorative and preventative facial exercises help to correct structural weakness of the skin.
In the same way that exercise tones the body, facial exercises can help you to reshape and recondition the contours of your face encouraging it to stay firm and supple.
When you perform exercises using your facial muscles the muscles become stronger and the skin on your face in turn looks firmer and smoother because the exercises help to pad out your face and erase creases and sagging.
Facial exercises also provide your skin with a fresh boost of circulation that encourages newly oxygenated, nutrient rich blood flow to this area. This in turn provides further stimulation for the skin and increases tone.
